A lot of Twitter users were less than enthused by the judges choice and didn't think she deserved the crown.
Reportedly, what really impressed the judges was Kira's "Pitch Perfect" rendition of "Happy" by Pharrel Williams. She beat 52 contestants and took home the coveted crown.
Kira belongs to New York and this is for the third time that Miss America title has gone to a New Yorker. Kira was crowned my Miss America 2014, Nina Davuluri.
"I honestly don't remember the actual crowning moment. It was such a blur!," Nina said to NBC about her crowning moment further advising Kira about the things she should keep in mind before her tour begins.
Kira is a strong advocator of domestic violence victims and wants to protect women from such abuse. She has a platform "Love Shouldn't Hurt: Protecting Women Against Domestic Violence," through which she voices her opinion against this horrendous social practice.
"I want people to stop asking, 'Why doesn't she just leave?' Every woman is an expert in her own case, and there are so many extenuating circumstances that lead to a woman staying with her abuser," she said against domestic violence, according to reports by Hollywoodlife.
Not many know that Kira's parents are from Russia and they shifted to US for a better life. Kira recently praised her parents saying that her parents sacrificed a lot for her and her brother's life, as told to to Press of Atlantic City.
