Miss Australia Jessinta Campbell gets chocolate sheeps from PETA
People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) sent Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell a box of chocolate after the beauty queen wore a "faux sheepskin" in the national costume competition of Miss Universe 2010.
"I am confirming that Jesinta Campbell Miss Universe Australia will be wearing only synthetic sheepskin on her national costume," Deborah Miller, national director of Miss Universe Australia.
PETA sent a box of vegan chocolate sheepto thank her for kindness. Campbell originally planned to wore sheepskin to the competition but the organization urged her to the contrary alerting Miss Australia to the cruelty of mulesing.
According to PETA, mulesing is "a crude mutilation that involves cutting large chunks of flesh from the backsides of Australian lambs with instruments resembling gardening shears."
Jessinta Campbell finished third in the Miss Universe pageant for this year. Miss Mexico Jimena Navarete was crowned Miss Universe.
