Thailand's bet to this year's Miss Earth 2013 is Punika Kunsuntornrat, also called Polly. Punika is 21-year-old and stands 5 feet 7inches tall. The beautiful Thailand contestant is an environmental advocate by profession.

This year, Thailand has given extremely mediocre performance in all the beauty pageants and it is expected that Punika will break the dry spell with her Miss Earth 2013 win. If the 21 -year-old Prachuap Khiri born beauty wins, then she will be the first one to bring Miss Earth crown to Thailand.

Previous to Punika, Radchadawan Khampeng was able to reach the Top 8 in Miss Earth 2004 pageant at Manila, Philippines. She was the first ever Thailand contestant to make it to the semi final round.

In year 2007, Miss Earth Thailand Jiraporn Sing-ieam was also placed in Top 8. She was also adjudged as the "National Costume Winner" and was the first contestant to receive a special award at the Miss Earth Pageant.

For last five years, Thailand representatives have made it to the semi-final round of Miss Earth but none have reached the finals. However, charming and beautiful Punika could reach this year's Miss Earth final round,

What can really lead to Punika's win is her interest in environmental advocacy. Miss Earth Pageant promotes environmental awareness and the title holder dedicates her one year to promote specific projects and addresses the pressing concerns regarding environment.

Punika's experience as an environmental advocate could really impress the judges and give her an added edge over other contestants.

Punika will compete for the Miss Earth crown on Dec 7, at the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines. Last year's title holder Tereza Fajksová from Czech Republic will crown the winner at the end of the evening.
