Miss Grand International Finals: Top 5 Contestants & Pageant Highlights

The first edition of Miss Grand International in Bangkok, Thailand kicked off with a big bang as the pageant crowns the first ever Miss Grand International tonight, Nov. 19, 2013. Out of 75 contestants from all corners of the globe and only 5 contestants will advance to the final round, the Question and Answer round.

The Top 5 contestants include Miss Philippines Ali Forbes, Miss Puerto Rico Janelee Chaparro, Miss Dominican Republic Chantel Martinez, Miss Slovak Republic Denisa Paseciakova and Miss Austalia Kelly Louise Maguire.

The winner for this year's pageant is going to have a new residence at The Tower in Midtown area of Bangkok, Thailand and will stay there during her entire reign. She will be the organization's ambassador in promoting peace and harmony, and to end all global conflict in all parts of the world.

Miss Dominican Republic was hailed as the Best in Evening Gown and will take home US$3,000 as cash prize. Best in Swimsuit goes to Miss Latvia Kristīne Rancāne with a cash prize of US$3,000, and Miss Myanmar Htar Htet Htet was voted as Miss Popular Vote with US$3,000 cash prize.

Out of the Top 10 Best Costume, Miss China Jie Pan wins the Best in Costume award and will take home US$3,000 as the cash prize of the award. Just like sister in the pageant world Miss Universe 2013 fourth runner-up Ariella Arida, Miss Grand Philippines Ali Forbes was the last contestant to be called in the Top 20.
