Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes Updates, What Has She Been Up To? [PHOTOS]

Now that Leila Lopes is about to turn over her Miss Universe crown during tomorrow's finals, it is time to look back and find out what has the beauty queen been doing lately.

The Angolan-British beauty stunned the whole world last year when she was crowned Miss Universe 2011. After a year of reigning as "the most beautiful woman in the world," Leila has been involved in many public affairs; from charities to famous men she dated.

During the beginning of her reign, Lopes traveled with her fellow title-holders to Düsseldorf, Germany, to attend a week-long affair to entertain the Armed Forces. Back in June, Leila did a 5-country African tour which took her to places such as Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo. Lopes attended Rio de Janiero's "Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development" event.

One particular happening during the final stretch of her reign was a public misunderstanding with hip-hop producer, Russell Simmons, who was reported to have dated the beauty queen in the past. During Leila's reign-ender "Miss Universe Farewell" party at New York City's Empire Steak House, Leila was a bit "annoyed" that the producer did not show up. The beauty queen is dating NY Giants star, Osi Umenyiora, at the time.

After Simmons sent her flowers as a gesture of apology, Leila seemed to have taken it the wrong way. In return, Simmons called Leila a "publicity whore" in his Twitter account.

Nevertheless, Leila holds her grace and spirit as the reigning Miss Universe, and is ready to wish the next title-holder much luck for a year of activities and recognition.
