Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo, Against Legalization of Marijuana in US [PHOTOS]
Crowned Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo, voices out her opinion in one of America's most controversial topics. Culpo says she's not for the legalization of marijuana in the United States.
Olivia might be raising a few eyebrows with her official stand on marijuana legalization in the United States. At present, there are already 18 states officially allowing the legal use of the plant for medicinal purposes.
"I think that for medical purposes it is OK, I don't think it's good for recreational purposes. There are just too many bad habits that go with the drug." says Olivia in a report posted by Fox News. Some might be disagreeing with the beauty queen on this statement, since it looks like she knows little about the plant, or its positive effects.
The first thing that many would react would be Culpo's classification of Marijuana. First off, marijuana is not a "drug," if drug is defined as something chemically developed, as it grows on soil and is considered as a plant. It is known to be an effective cure, or "herbal medicine" for ailments such as cancer, chronic pain, glaucoma, high blood pressure, brain tumors, or autism.
May have attested to the positive effects of marijuana, and if Culpo is concerned about its recreational use, she should explain her stand and have an open mind about it. Also, what are the "bad habits" she is referring to?
One reason behind her decision to go against its legalization could be for the protection of her image as a role model. But her move to ditch college to pursue her beauty pageant dreams is not such a "role model" act after all.
