After losing the Miss Universe crown to Miss Venezuela, Ariella Arida landed at the home turf Nov 12. She received a warm welcome at the Manila Airport and the country celebrated her two-week triumph at the Miss Universe 2013 pageant.

Arida was the hottest bet for the Miss Universe crown this year but she lost the crown owing to her not so popular answer in the Q&A round. She was asked by judge Tara Lipinski: "What can be done about the lack of jobs for young people starting their careers around the world?"

She replied: "For the people who have lack of jobs, I do believe that we people should invest in education and that is my primary advocacy, because we all know that if everyone of us is educated and well aware of what we are doing, we could land into jobs and we could land a good career in the future. Education is the primary source and ticket to a better future."

Arida wore a full sleeved a sequined dress at her homecoming. After emerging as the third runner-up, she tweeted, "Her not winning the crown has proved to be a blessing in disguise as now she can help the Super Typhoon Yolanda victims."

She has pledged to help the typhoon-stricken victims after the Miss Universe pageant and as per Yahoo!omg, "She hopes that her feat in the Miss Universe 2013 pageant was somehow able to give happiness and hope to the Philippines amid the tragedy."

She noted in a press conference that she was caught by surprise when she was chosen in Top 16. She even said that the reason for Miss Venezuela's win was her natural confidence.

According to abs-cbsnews.com, "Arida claimed that even during pre-pageant events, where contestants had a chance to interact with each other, Gabriela Isler (Miss Venezuela) came off pleasant and sincere in her actions."
