Beauty experts and Miss Philippines Ariella Arida were right after all. The experts correctly forecast that Arida would land in the top 5 but won't get the crown.

Ariella, in a previous controversial interview with ANC host Karen Davila commented on a question regarding her so-called weak English-speakng skills that facility in the King's language is not a main criterion in winning the coveted crown. She pointed to Latinas who couldn't speak a single English sentence, yet win the crown often.

Her remarks sparked a word war between U.S.-based radio talk show host DJ Mo Twister, a Filipino, and Ervic Vijandre, a suitor of Ariella and a basketballer. Twister pointed out that the beauty queen was sort of looking down on the Latinas, while Vijandre stressed he misunderstood her reply.

Events at Moscow, Russia on Saturday night proved Arida right. Miss Venezuela Maria Gabriela Isler became the 7th Venezuelan to win the Miss Universe crown. And so was first runner-up Miss Spain Patricia Rodriguez.

In fact, of the Top 5, only Ariella answered the Q&A in English and she proved her detractors wrong in that she didn't need an interpreter because she answered well. Here was her reply.
