Miss Universe 2013 First Runner-up Janine Tugonon is MU 2013 Web Correspondent
Miss Universe 2013 is just around the corner and 86 beauty queens are starting to heat up Russia as the coronation night is drawing near. Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon of the Philippines is set to be this year's web correspondent as she give the fans an inside look into the glamour of the Miss Universe 2013 Pageant.
Janine Tugonon is now in Moscow, Russia to take fans behind-the scenes as the 86 MU contestants will battle it out for elusive Nexus crown. She will be the correspondent for Miss Universe YouTube channel "On The Scene," a web series for fans as she gets all the juicy details from the contestants for pre-pageant activities. She will be covering the National Costume Competition, the Preliminaries on Nov. 5 and the Finals Red Carpet on the Coronation Night on Nov. 9.
As web correspondent, Janine will also cover some sponsored activities, rehearsals and will randomly interview candidates to get the inside scoop from each delegate. The 24-year-old beauty queen is now based in the US and is currently pursuing further studies. The Filipino beauty queen has a Pharmacy degree with Latin honours (Cum Laude) and a Licensed Pharmacist in June 2010.
She was the first runner-up candidate in the Binibining Pilipinas 2011 pageant, following her defeat she competed again in 2012 and ultimately won the crown and represent her country for the Miss Universe 2012. She finished first runner-up from last year's pageant and was head to head to Miss USA Olivia Culpo who eventually won the crown at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her question from the pageant was taken in Twitter and read by judge Nigel Barker: "As an international ambassador, do you believe that speaking English should be a prerequisite to being Miss Universe? Why or why not?"
Her winning answer: "For me, I think being Miss Universe is not just about knowing how to speak a specific language - it is being able to influence and inspire others. So whatever language you have, as long your heart is to serve and you have a strong mind to show to people, then, you can be Miss Universe."
