The Miss Universe international beauty contest kicked off Saturday night at Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia. Contestants representing 86 countries will compete in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. Hundreds of millions of people in over 80 countries are watching it now to cheer for their favorite contestant.

The pageant kicked off by the hosts announcing the Top 16 finalists and it came as a surprise to most people that Miss Russia Elmira Abdrazakova was not in Top 16 in her own country! The 19-year-old was a favorite of judges for the national costume round but did not make to the final cut.

Miss Philippines Ariella Arida has been the favorite of fans not in Philippines but in other Asian countries too. She not only made to Top 16 as "fan's favorite" but also had her place secured in Top 10. The gorgeous Ariella wore a golden gown in the evening gown round and looked absolutely stunning with her shiny straight black hair.

"Philippines doesn't need detailed gems or cuts.. she stands out in simplicity!! #ForThePhilippines #MissUniverse2013," written emilacaca on Twitter.

"May Ariella Arida's yellow gown be the ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy Philippines. #MissUniverse2013," writes jacky on Twitter.

"Ariella Arida is so pretty in yellow! At pak na pak ang straight hair!!!," writes Miss Philippines fan jamielle on Twitter.

"That Bright Yellow Gown! Standout! Unusual color candidates choose to wear! Miss Philippines!," writes another fan haritata on Dhiev Hilton.

Miss Philippines Ariella Arida made it to the Top 5 and has the strongest cheer from the crowd in Russia too. Her question at the final round was, "What can be done about the lack of jobs for young people starting their careers around the world?"

"I do believe we should invest in education - and that is my primary advocacy. ... Education is a primary source and a ticket for better future," was Ariella's straight and to the point answer.
