As the Miss Universe 2013 pageant showcases its beautiful ladies, there have been a few controversies along the way and this time around it's on Miss USA, Erin Brady.

The Miss Universe 2013 pageant had just showcased the 86 delegates in their national costumes whereas Miss Nicaragua won best in national costume among the other candidates. However, stealing her spotlight is Miss USA as she has been the joke among many as she represented her country wearing a 'national' costume that would not befit the USA.

What did she wear?

Inspired by the movie "Transformers", Miss USA, Erin Brady sported a national costume as Optimus Prime. A little background on Optimus Prime, he is the autobot leader and though he is a leader in the sci-fi movie, it does not mean that Miss USA would be leading in the pageant anytime soon with a travesty of a national costume.

This particular round in the Miss Universe pageant where each representative showcased their national costume, showed part of the country they are representing. It should show it's people, the culture and how well their candidates can wear these creative ideas that are made into something in which each candidate can wear loud and proud.

This is one of the reasons why Miss USA is currently in hot water. Her national costume does not represent her country, it's traditions and culture in anyway unless you point out that it is made in the colors of the US flag but that is as close as it comes.

What she showcased was nothing about the American culture and promoted a rather different subliminal message around the world: "that the US of A is a country that is into videogames, technology and consumerism" as stated by the opinions in this article: Miss USA's national costume is a travesty

Creativity is a good thing in creating designs especially for the national costume in the Miss Universe pageant. Just like how the designer of Miss Nicaragua's costume used his creativity in designing the elaborate yet culture filled national costume, which in everyway depicted the country of Nicaragua, this is where Miss USA's national costume lacked-diversity, tradition and culture.
