The 2015 Miss Universe prelims was held on Wednesday. The two headline generating rounds, swimsuit and evening gown, dazzled the audience as well as the judges. Here is a look at the highlights of the 2015 Miss Universe preliminary rounds:

The introduction:

As is tradition, the choreographer of the evening Stephanie Kammer introduced herself, and soon afterwards, all the contestants paraded on the stage in silver and golden dresses. Kammer then handed over the stage to the hosts of the evening, reigning Miss Universe Paulina Vega and Nick Teplitz

The preliminary event Judges, Erika Albies, former Miss USA Erin Brady, Julio Caro, Keiko Uraguchi, Nischelle Turner, Rocky Motwani and Zak Soreff were also introduced.

Swimsuit Round:

The Judges quoted trivia as the contestants took center stage displaying their swim suits. Australia’s contestant Monika Radulovic showed off her perfectly toned body in her hot pink halter top bikini designed by Yamamay.

Evening Gown Round

The Swimsuit round was immediately followed by the evening gown round. In this round, Monika looked enthralling in a gold, plunging neck gown, designed by Sydney-based evening wear label Galanni. The beauty queens tried to woo the judges with their grace and elegance. Miss China wore a modern silk cheongsam, while Miss Curaçao commanded attention with a striking red dress and a bouffant hairstyle. Meanwhile, Miss Georgia went for a form-fitting sheer blue gown, which she designed herself.

“Great recovery”

However it was Miss Myanmar, May Thaw, who was the talk of the evening. She tripped on the stairs in her evening gown and fell. Miss Myanmar, however, immediately got on her feet, and that too with grace. She asked the audience to cheer for her. Host of the night, Teplitz, said that it was a great recovery.

The end and more

The live show ended with the hosts thanking the audience. The organisers have shared via social media that the swimsuit and evening gown rounds along with an interview portion will help determine which contestants will make the Top 15.

Miss Universe will telecast live on Fox on Sunday, Dec. 20. The event can also be watched live on the Miss Universe website.
