Bio of Miss Universe Philippines Ariella Arida

Ariella Arida or Ariella "Ara" Hernandez Arida was born on Nov. 20. 1988 in Alaminos, Laguna. This Filipino lady is the current Miss Universe Philippines. Before winning the Binibining Pilipinas, she was a runway model and contestant of Miss Philippines Earth 2012, she represented Alaminos, Laguna in the contest.

A chemistry graduate from the prestigious University of the Philippines, Los Baños, Arida, is one of the hottest contenders for Miss Universe 2013. From the day she was crowned as Miss Philippines, she was compared to other international contestants in the competition.

Arida is also a member of Iglesia ni Cristo.

She won the Miss Universe Philippines and Best in Swimsuit. Arida was crowned by Miss Universe 2012 1st runner-up, Janine Tugonon at Smart Araneta Coliseum on April 14, 2013.

Her crowing took place along with Binibining Pilipinas Tourism - Joanna Cindy Miranda, Binibining Pilipinas International - Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Supranational Philippines - Lutya Johanna Datul and runner-up Pia Wurtzbach.

Alan Purisi, Philippine National Police Chief Directior, the judge of the pageant questioned her and she answered:

"One lesson in life that we, women, can teach men is being sensitive. Because we all know that men are more logical when it comes to decision. They usually are more rational, straight forward. Unlike we, women, we use our heart and we tend to get emotional in some of our decisions. For me, sensitivity is something that we can teach men."
