Miss Universe: When Will Greenland Return?
This year's Miss Universe 2013 pageant will be a historic pageant for most of the countries that will take place in this prestigious event. For Miss Myanmar, she would make history in her country as this is the first time in 50 years since Myanmar had sent a delegate to represent their country in the Miss Universe pageant.
Many other countries have done the same for this year's Miss Universe pageant such as Azerbaijan. There are also many countries that are slowly going against the instilled tradition, such as having short hair-Miss Czech Republic and Miss Switzerland. The question that is now asked by many, when will Greenland send a representative to showcase the beautiful women in their country for the Miss Universe pageant?
Greenland is a country mixed with Caucasians and by the Eskimos from Alaska. They have been competing in the Miss Universe pageant since they were able to gain freedom from Denmark by joining the European Union and thus showcasing their freedom by having a representative join the Miss Universe pageant.
Though the country has not won in the prestigious pageant, they came close to being noticed as they did find their representatives making it into the top candidates. The thing was, Greenland has decided to stop in 1991 and focused on Miss World.
It is unclear as to why Greenland stopped from sending representatives to the Miss Universe pageants. The highest ranking in which the country has gotten was in 1990 when their representative made it to the top 19 among the other representatives.
Greenland is still struggling with its political claim over its country and an independent nation aside from Denmark. The country is now earning much revenue from mining, which would lessen its dependence on Copenhagen allowing them to fully establish an independent state. When will Greenland finally send a candidate to the Miss Universe pageant? We all hope that they do next year.
