Miss World 2014 Coronation Night: Megan Young On Her Last Interview As Miss World 2013 [PHOTOS]
Her country's first Miss World and a true representative of Beauty with a Cause, Miss World 2013 Megan Young took her last walk in the Miss World runway before handing over the crown to Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss. The 22-year-old newly crowned beauty queen will take over Young's place in representing Miss World Organization in various charities.
Representing her country, the Philippines, on last year's pageant held in Bali, Indonesia, the former Miss World travelled over 15 countries around the globe as she promoted Beauty with a Purpose. Described as humble and hardworking, Young proved during her entire reign that she deserves her crown. Miss World believes her legacy as Miss World queen will continue to live in the hearts of the people she inspired and touched.
"From a Beauty with a Purpose perspective, it would have to be helping out with the Typhoon relief in the Philippines. I was able to help out my countrymen in ways I never thought possible, because of my Miss World title," Young revealed during her last interview as Miss World when she asked about the highlights of her reign as posted on the Miss World website. "I could connect to so many people and inspire and encourage help on such a wide scale and that was a true highlight of my year. On the lighter side, being invited to host the Miss World pageant this year in London is also one of the year's biggest highlights."
With hosting as one of her passions, the actress was "touched and humbled" for being invited to host this year's pageant in London, the same night she would hand over her crown. With non-stop humanitarian work throughout her reign, the beauty titlist admitted she had a lot apprehensions when it comes to her ability to represent the Miss World Organization, but her family kept her levelheaded despite her newfound fame and status.
When asked about what trait the next Miss World should possess, Young believes being authentic is most important since being Miss World is not just about the beauty and the glamour. She advises the next Miss World to be patient as well as to be kind and compassionate for thse "will take you a long way."
