After the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and crash of MH17, another aviation tragedy has left the world mourning. On Thursday, July 24, 2014, Air Algerie plane went missing few minutes after its take off from Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. According to the latest update, wreckage of AH5017 has been found.

Missing Air Algerie flight AH5017 went off the radar 50 minutes after taking off while crossing the desert over Mali. The wreckage of Swiftair MD-83 plane has been found in an isolated area of Mali at the borders of Burkina Faso and Niger in West Africa.

General Gilbert Diendere, the Burkina Faso government's official confirmed the news on late Thursday, according to The New York Times. The report notes that the debris of the plane has been found in "semidesert area 60 miles south of Gao, Mali." It was discovered near the village of Boulikessi. The village is around 31 miles away from the frontier.

The crash reportedly killed all the 110 passengers and six crew members flying in Algeria-bound flight.

"Someone saw the plane fall and alerted us, so we sent a mission there that went to the spot. But we couldn't examine the wreck because night was falling," told General Gilbert. General is a government official who is also assigned as the head of the crisis department setup for the examination of the missing Air Alegrie plane. The investigation will be carried out on Friday.

As per the general the MD-83 may have crashed due to the weather conditions. "There were a lot of storms, and there was lightning" the general said.

Mirror reported earlier that a diplomat from Mali capital Bamako informed that the northern region of the country was "struck by a powerful sandstorm overnight." This area is said to be the part of Air Algerie flight AH5017.

"The plane was not far from the Algerian frontier when the crew was asked to make a detour because of poor visibility and to prevent the risk of collision with another aircraft on the Algiers-Bamako route," an unnamed source told AFP.

The report notes the contact to with MD-83 lost when the plane altered its route.

The team found the "remains of the plane, totally burned out and scattered on the ground," the general told a local TV channel (via Chicago tribune). General confirmed discovering the "remains of dead bodies" and finding "no survivors."

It is reported that Mali's President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita would be visiting the Air Algerie AH5017's crash site on Friday.

As per the details of the passengers' list, MD-83 was carrying 50 French, 24 from Burkina Fasso, eight Lebanese, six Algerians, four Germans, Five Canadians, one Belgian, one Nigerian, one Ukrainian, one Swiss, one Romanian, one Cameroonian and two Luxembourg natives. The crew members, including two pilots and four stewards were all Spanish.
