MLB ALCS Game 5 Preview and Free Live Streaming: Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers
Barring any major comebacks, it looks like Game 4 of the MLB American League Championship Series will be a dominating win by the Detroit Tigers who are currently leading the Boston Red Sox 7-2 at the bottom of the 8th inning.
For a while, at least the first few hours after Game 3, the Red Sox had the Tigers in a very tight spot. Even though the Tigers won Game 1 in Boston, wresting control of the home advantage, the Red Sox won Game 3 by just one run, in effect ensuring that the series will return to Fenway Park.
Those thoughts are now farthest from the Tigers' minds.
Taking advantage of mistakes by a normally unflappable Jake Peavy, the Tigers racked up five runs in the second inning, capped by a two-run double by Torii Hunter. It all started when Austin Jackson forced a walk for Victor Martinez and was followed by Miguel Cabrera and Jose Iglesias.
In the fourth inning, the onslaught continued, with Austin Jackson hitting an RBI single -- again courtesy of Peavy. Jackson's efforts were rewarded when he stole second base and became the beneficiary of a Cabrera single off relief pitcher Brandon Workman.
Even with the Red Sox hitting one run each in the sixth and seventh innings, it was clear that fire in their bellies had been put out. If the Red Sox want to restore some semblance of order in Game Five, they need to change up their pitching order to reduce errors. It was obvious that Peavy was the goat in Game Four, and Jon Lester, who has been named the starter for Game Five, will have to step up big-time.
Game 5 will still be played on Friday (Australia time) at Comerica Park in Detroit.
