The New York Mets have reportedly maintained its contact with agent Scott Boras in an attempt to sign Stephen Drew, a reliable league source disclose on Tuesday.

"The New York Mets remain in contact with Scott Boras about the possibility of signing Stephen Drew," according to a source via Real GM.

Drew, who batted 13 home runs and 67 RBIs last season for the World Series-winning Boston Red Sox, has drawn interest from the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays and the Mets.

Still, many baseball analysts believed the Mets' pursuit of Drew is not as intense as other teams and would likely lose the budding star deep in the free-agency period.

"However, the source likened the situation to New York's pursuit of Michael Bourn last winter. Bourn eventually signed with the Cleveland Indians, but not before the Mets made a run at signing him," via Marc Craig of Newsday.
