The Washington Nationals are reportedly interested to sign MLB veteran Matt Williams as their next manager, a source close to situation reported on Friday.

Williams, five-time All-Star third baseman, is set to become a big league manager after spending four years as a coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Williams played with the San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Indians and the D-Backs for 15 seasons before he retired in 2003. He then served as the D-Backs broadcaster for five years before accepting the job as the team's first-base coach in 2009.

The 47-year old Williams will replace Davey Johnson, who resigned from his post as manager for the Nationals after the 2013 season.

Meanwhile, Kansas City Royals reportedly listed Don Wakamatsu and Mike Jirschele on their big league coaching staff.

According to real GM, Wakamatsu will assume the role as the Royals' bench coach and catching instructor. Prior to his post with the Royals, Wakamatsu served as special assignment scout for the New York Yankees last season and managed the Seattle Mariners.

Meanwhile, Jirschele was finally elevated to the big league after serving as the manager for the Omaha Storm Chasers for 11 seasons.
