The New York Yankees can still make their run at Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Matt Kemp despite signing Jacoby Ellsbury to a seven-year, $153 million deal, a source close to situation reported on Wednesday.

The Yankees and General Manager Brian Cashman are seemingly back in its free-spending ways after striking a multi-million deal with the former Boston Red Sox slugger.

According to Real GM, Ellsbury signed the lucrative deal with an eight-year option that could raise his paycheck to $169 million. This recent moved pulled off by the Yankees indicated that Cashman is set to make more major moves this offseason in an attempt to get back to contention.

Matt Kemp to the Pinstripes

Kemp, who has been the subject of trade rumours as of late, is reportedly considered by the Dodgers management as one of their tradable assets.

After fizzling out in the National League championship series, the Dodgers look to introduce a youth revolution by bringing in some of their top prospects from their farm teams.

Apparently, Kemp has become more indispensible for the Dodgers because of his vulnerability to injuries for the past two seasons. According to SB Nation writer Noah Jarosh, the Dodgers continue to entertain trade offers for the veteran hitter.

"Kemp is the most expensive of the four, as he is still owed $130 million on the extension he signed prior to the 2012 season. That deal will run for six more seasons, through 2019."

"Ethier is still owed $71.5 million for four years, Crawford at $88.5 million for four years and Puig at $38 million for five years. Of the four, Puig is the least likely to be traded given his relatively cheap contract and phenomenal production in his rookie season," Jarosh stated.

The Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers appear as the frontrunners for Kemp, but the NY Yankees have enough assets and bold front office personnel to make the trade done.

"The Los Angeles Dodgers have a crowded outfield, and likely have to trade one of Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier or Carl Crawford due to the emergence of Yasiel Puig (and top prospect Joc Pederson isn't far behind)," ESPN stated.

One possible trade scenario that could happen is a swapping Kemp for Yankees ace hurler CC Sabathia, according to the report.

"An ESPN report suggested a blockbuster trade between the Yankees and the Dodgers, which will see Kemp playing for the Pinstripes in exchange for former CY Young Award winner CC Sabathia," wrote Latino Post.
