MMA News: Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino Believes Ronda Rousey Is Ducking Her
Just like a scorned lover, Cris "Cyborg" Justino is infuriated for not being picked as the next in line to the Ultimate Fighting Championship women's bantamweight belt and a shot at the biggest star of the mixed martial arts world, Ronda Rousey.
The Brazilian fighter recently made a move down in weight class to 135-lbs. While she did not explicitly state that it was an effort to fight Rousey, the world's number 2 ranked women's pound-for-pound fighter stated that moving down gives her the opportunity for more fights per year and open up more opportunities for her, including a shot against the undefeated Rousey (10-0) as reported by MMA Kanvas.
"I think she keeps talking and keeps running, you know and I think if I make 135 she cannot run anymore, because everybody, all the fans want to watch the fight and I think the only way for this fight to happen and to make her shut up is to make 135," Justino stated during an interview with Submission Radio.
Nevertheless, the former Strikeforce Women's Featherweight Champion and the current Invicta FC World Featherweight Champion acknowledged that Rowdy has already evolved and improved upon her ground game. The second best women's fighter believes that aside from Rousey's excellent ground game, she has also improved on her on-her-feet maneuvers. But that is not to say, thet she does not have the ability to take her out.
"To have the opportunity to submit her, I will. To have the opportunity to knock her out, I will. You know it's a game. You have to be ready for everything and I'll be ready for everything when I fight her for sure," Justino added.
While she may be raring to once and for all settle who the best women's brawler is, she will have to wait in line. UFC President Dana White has already handpicked Cat Zingano as the next Rousey challenger and that fight will be one of the preliminaries for the Jon Jones-Daniel Cormier bout in January. With that in tow, Justino will be rooting for another Rousey victory to preserve her immaculate record and then, it is expected that she will renew her challenge for a sort of unification bout.
