‘Modern Family’ Comes to Australia, To Cast Kangaroo, Koala and Boomerang
"Modern Family's visit to Australia was much anticipated, but nothing was officially confirmed. It is now confirmed that the dysfunctional family is visiting Australia. The cast and crew of "Modern Family" are scheduled to land in the country in February. Qantas Airlines are flying them to Australia.
The visit to film a vacation episode of "Modern Family" is courtesy an agreement between Qantas Airlines and 20th Century Fox Television, the producers of "Modern Family."
Fairfax had reported in September that the cast and crew of "Modern Family" may come down-under to film an episode. Steve Levitan, executive producer of "Modern Family," had said to Fairfax that they would like to bring the hit sitcom to Australia. However, the plan for the episode was not locked at the time. At the time, 21st Century Fox had refused to confirm the news.
In a statement released recently, Levitan said that they are excited about their trip down under. He promised to not film any "down under jokes." Previously, "Modern Family" had shot vacation episodes in Hawaii and Wyoming.
"We look forward to a fantastic shoot in many exotic locations. We loved the family vacation episodes we shot in Hawaii and Wyoming -- this one is certainly our most ambitious yet," Levitan said.
The executive producer also promised to feature kangaroo, a koala and a boomerang in the Australian vacation episode. He also said "I'm sure there will be lots more, but so far that's all we know about Australia -- our American school system is a disaster.
"We thank Qantas for this amazing opportunity to broaden our horizons. Plus it'll be nice to go to a place where everyone looks likeHugh Jackman and Miranda Kerr. Aussie, Aussie Aussie!" Levitan said.
ABC's "Modern Family" is a one of the popular American comedies in Australia. It airs on Ten Network and Foxtel.
Sydney Morning Herald reports that: "O'Neill, Bowen, Ferguson, Sofía Vergara, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons are expected to visit Australia to film the vacation episode.
