In this week's episode of "Modern Family," everyone is feeling the Halloween vibe but both Mitch and Cam are overwhelmed and stressed out with other things that are going on at work. Because of this, their daughter Lily is caught in the middle of their work obligations. Mitch and Cam need to find a work-life balance and also show Lily how important she is without compromising other areas in their life.

Mitch is stressed out about closing a case after he had lost three in a row. This next one would bring his losing streak up to four and he's unable to think about Halloween because of his desire to win. Meanwhile, Cam is left with the task of bringing Lily to the school's Halloween parade. He dresses up as Superman and makes Lily a "Where's Waldo?" costume.

When Mitch arrives in court for his closing argument, the court stenographer arrives wearing a spider costume. The entire jury bursts out in laughter and while Mitch is delivering his argument, the members of the jury are distracted and kept laughing about the stenographer who is working while wearing the big hairy spider costume.

Meanwhile over at Lily's school, things are not going well for Cam either as he found out that their Superman-Where's Waldo tandem doesn't work. Costumes between the parents and kids should be related as stated in the event flyer which Cam didn't see. He completely freaked out and rushed off to find a Wizard White Beard costume, another "Where's Waldo?" character. This way, he and Lily can wear related costumes.

Upon his return, Cam finds out that the parade is at the end of the day. That means that he will have to miss it because he has football practice in the afternoon. He tells Lily the bad news and she rushes off in disappointment.

Mitch is also dealing with a disaster on his end because of the stenographer. He petitions the judge to have her remove her costume and when the judge agrees, The jury members are annoyed with him for taking out the fun in the room. Needless to say, he wasn't able to salvage the situation and eventually lost his fourth case.

Upon returning home, Mitch is in a bad mood and so is Lily. Cam arrived late from practice and Lily is complaining that she is missing all the Halloween fun and all the other kids have now taken the best candy. She complains that Cam is always working and is neglecting her. Mitch steps in to defend Cam and told Lily how much time and effort Cam put in to throw together her costume which he even sewed himself. He also points out that Lily never gave Cam the flyer which is why he's been misinformed about all of Lily's Halloween activities in the first place.

After listening to everything that Cam went through in an effort to make her Halloween special, Lily has a change of heart and offers Cam an apology. Cam then starts to feel better about himself and stops kicking himself too much about letting Lily down. Mitch for his part has finally won a case albeit with a seven year old and his over-sensitive partner.
