ABC's 'Modern Family' Cast And Crew

It's the Halloween special on this week's episode of "Modern Family" and the Dunphy household is abuzz with the preparations. Unfortunately, Claire is needed at work so she has to reluctantly hand over the baton to Phil to mastermind this year's decor and concept. Needless to say, Phil's idea doesn't go down well with Claire.

Phil lives up to his usual positive and cheerful self by deciding to put up "AwesomeLand." This basically means that he wants to decorate their home and dress everyone up in things that he thinks are awesome. In Claire's opinion, Phil's idea is lame and she wants to keep the Halloween theme spooky and gory. Because she needs to work, she has no choice but to let Phil have his way. He then proceeds to decorate the yard with giant cupcakes and stuffed toys.

When Claire walks out into the yard on her way to work, their new obnoxious neighbours Ronny and Amber Lafontaine make snide comments about their decor. They call her a soccer mom who scares easily. Ronny keeps taunting her by saying that they have put up a scariest house contest and that there is no way that Claire and her family can compete with their candy land theme.

Ronny gets on Claire's nerves and she takes up the challenge. Faced with the contest and Ronny's taunting, Caire decides to skip work and transform their yard into what she feels they should have done in the first place. She brings out the blood and the gore and takes out Phil's cheerful decorations. She dresses up as a sadistic nurse while she make the kids wear crazy asylum patient costumes.

Phil arrives and freaks out when he sees the insane asylum from hell that Claire has created. He's very angry with Claire and gets even more mad when she explains that it was Ronny's taunting that led her to change the concept. He says that she cares more about what their neighbours think than what her husband does and they don't even like the neighbours.

Amber walks over and acts offended saying that Claire's choice of decor has hurt her. Ronny explains that she's sensitive about having spent some time in a cuckoo farm in the past. Claire is very remorseful about the whole thing and agrees to revert back to "AwesomeLand" to pacify both Phil and the neighbours.

Claire then walks over to apologise to Amber and finds out that she made up the whole story to throw off Claire. The discovery basically gets her in a rage and she threatens the Lafontaine couple. Ronny then tells her how scary she is and Claire is eventually satisfied that she scared Ronny and that makes Halloween complete for everybody.
