Modern Family Season 5 to Tackle Gay Marriage; Will Cam and Mitch Marry?
The new season of ABC's comedy "Modern Family" is going to deal with same-sex wedding, and there is a possibility that Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) will finally say "I Do." However, the cast and the writing team refuses to confirm the wedding of Mitch and Cam in the upcoming season and just stress on content dealing with gay marriage.
"Well ... we deal with gay marriage. And that's all I can say. I'm not allowed to say anything too crazy. I can't explain how we deal with gay marriage, but gay marriage is now legal and we have one of the most popular couples, Cam and Mitch, and we deal with it hopefully in a funny and original way. And true to the spirit of our show, which is comedy first and message follows," said Julie Bowen, who plays Claire Dunphy in "Modern Family," while giving a preview of "Modern Family" Season 5 to HUFFPOST TV.
"Hopefully that message is explored in some form of intelligent humour."
Claire, however, refused to reveal whether the most loved gay couple on T.V, Cam and Mitch, are getting married in the upcoming season of "Modern Family." Claire said that she had not seen that, "but they to deal with gay marriage."
Dealing with gay marriage, without getting Cam and Mitch married is a scenario that seems highly unlikely.
"Modern Family" Season 5 promo alludes to popping-up of the question "Will you marry me?" as "YES" is the word repeated a number of times in the promo.
According to The Deadline, Jeffrey Richman, writer of "Modern Family," had said that the sitcom's writing team had begun writing the storyline, ahead of the June 26, 2013 Supreme Court order that legalised same-sex weddings in California. This does alludes to the wedding of Cam and Mitch.
The new season of Modern Family premieres on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
