'Modern Family' Season 6 Premiere Episode Spoilers: The Long Honeymoon
ABC's hit series "Modern Family" starts airing its sixth season on Sept. 24 and the network has already offered a sneak peek into the opening episode. The series has won five consecutive "Best Comedy Series" awards in the Primetime Emmys, and fans are eagerly awaiting the sixth season which can potentially break records if it wins a sixth consecutive Emmy and overtake "Frasier," which also has five awards.
The first episode of the season is titled "The Long Honeymoon," which relates to Mitch Pritchett and Cam Tucker's honeymoon. The two were married in the two-part season finale of season 5 where they needed to transfer venues several times and even change the officiating minister before they were eventually able to tie the knot.
It's the end of the summer in "Modern Family" time and the newlyweds Cam and Mitch have returned from their honeymoon. Now that they are officially married, they are back in their regular lives and they have to face the truth about the so-called "honeymoon phase" in a marriage. Mitch has already returned to his normal routines but to his annoyance, Cam is still up in cloud 9 and in honeymoon mode. He is acting all lovey-dovey while Mitch is already starting to feel uncomfortable about the excessive displays of affection.
Meanwhile, in yet another married couple's life, Gloria and Jay Pritchett are also facing issues about complacency in a marriage. Gloria feels that Jay is no longer making an effort and is not taking care of the way he looks. Jay is stubborn as usual and Gloria decides to go to drastic measures to prove a point. The typically polished and screaming hot Gloria, played by sexy Latin actress Sophia Vergara, will shed her usual skimpy outfits and go for frumpy garb like over sized t-shirts and sweats.
In the Dunphy household, the honeymoon period is over as well after a long and unusually smooth-sailing summer. Alex had been away on a humanitarian trip and upon her return, the balance shifts in the household and things take a nasty turn.
Modern Family returns on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 on ABC.
