Modern Family 8x05 – The Dunphys
Luke’s Halloween party does not play out like he has hoped for as only a couple of friends show up. Phil mentions that it’s currently not easy to pack a high school party compared to the old days. “It’s no longer cool for kids to invite teachers or parents,” he says. All the other kids went to Sophie Chamber’s (Cheyn Cole) party. She’s the granddaughter of Jay’s closet nemesis, Earl (Robert Costanzo).
Haley (Sarah Hyland) tries to persuade the kids at Sophie’s party to switch over to Luke’s but fails to do so when she gets high. Claire (Julia Bowen) decides to spoil the party by going overly “motherly” to all the guests. Her plan works and the kids transfer to Luke’s.
Phil jumpstarts Luke’s party by pretending to be a breakdancing transfer student named Rod Skyhook. He hides behind a beaver suit so as not to get recognised.
Modern Family 8x05 – The Tucker-Pritchetts
Cam and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) help their daughter Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) give away candies outside their house. Cam gets angry at a kid dressed as Darth Vader who grabs a handful of the candies. Moments later, Mitch gets hit with an egg. Cam and Mitch chase the kid all the way to his house, believing the boy to be the culprit. After confronting the boy and his father, Mitch learns that it was actually Claire who egged him.
Modern Family 8x05 – The Pritchetts
When Jay learns that Manny is going to Sophie’s party, he instructs him to place a dead fish on her grandfather’s sock drawer. But when Jay realises that Earl had stolen something from him, he marches to his business rival’s residence himself and takes it.
Earl catches Jay as he tries to escape and they get into a fight. Jay, dressed in a Jesus costume, ends the scuffle when he sees his reflection on the glass window. He decides to forgive Earl, leaving the latter dumfounded.
