'Modern Family' Star Ty Burrell Talks T Jimmy Kimmel About HIs Emmy And The NFL
With just a week before season 6 of ABC's "Modern Family" hits TV screens worldwide on Sept. 24, 2014, Ty Burrell, who plays Phil Dunphy in the series made a guest appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel LIVE" to talk about his Emmy and the perks of being a television star.
Burrell recently won an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series" for his role as accidentally hilarious and adorable Phil Dunphy in the critically-acclaimed series. The show itself has now won five consecutive Emmy Awards for "Best Comedy Series."
Burrell shared a recent experience with Jimmy Kimmel in which he was invited to the NFL draft. He explained that he was a fan of the St. Louis Rams since he was a little kid despite hailing from Oregon and growing up in Los Angeles.
He said that he was invited to come to the draft to present the jersey to the team's first round pick. He explained how excited he was and his family was delighted as well. He even shared how he asked his wife for permission to go. When he got to New York for the event after getting a new suit for himself, he shared with Kimmel that the guys really don't know who will be picked first and there is a station set up backstage where the player's name can be printed onto the jerseys.
Kimmel then commented that he didn't recall seeing Burrell during the draft that he claims to have watched in full. Burrell then continues his story and tells Kimmel that the draft pick was announced to be Aaron Donald of Notre Dame University. As Burrell was getting ready to go out for the presentation, he waited for the jersey to be printed but was told that the guy was not present. To his disappointment, he was unable to fulfill his role as jersey presenter since there was no one to present a jersey to.
He and Kimmel laughed at his misfortune and he explained how his participation in the NFL draft remained solidly as in the past season in which he only just watched the entire thing instead of actually being in it. Both men laughed off the incident, but Burrell made it clear that he would jump on the opportunity again should he be invited and Kimmel said he would consider inviting him again as a prank and not have him come out again.
