Monica Spear Murder: Family Requested Her To Leave Venezuela And Settle In the U.S. Before Murder
Former Miss Venezuela Monica Spear and her ex-husband were brutally murdered in front of their daughter who was also injured. Now her family has broken silence over her murder, claiming they beseeched her to go away from her bloodcurdling and unsafe homeland, which has reported 70 killings since the start of 2014 before her dreadful death.
Spear, 29, was shot to death while on a break with her ex-husband, Thomas Henry Berry, 39, and their daughter Maya, 5.
Ricardo Spear told NBC: "She loved her country too much. It was her home." He said the family who resides in Florida requested her to leave Venezuela and live with them in the U.S. "She was a person with dreams and works really hard for what she wanted," Ricardo added.
Luis Dominguez, business partner of Thomas, said, "They were a great couple." Although Monica and Thomas werer divorced, they shared a good rapport and often vacation as a family with their daughter.
The couple got into a small car mishap on Jan. 6 in the Valencia-Puerto Cabello highway and were stuck on the roadside when armed burglars shot the two adults to death while their daughter was injured. The child is currently in the hospital and recuperating.
Diego Sanchez, a close pal of the couple's for six years, said after the incident he is scared to live in Venezuela.
"To think there are people who can shoot a mother and father in front of their daughter is very sad and unbelievable. And it's shocking when it happens to someone you know."
After being crowned Miss Venezuela in 2004 Monica became popular and her brilliant works include; Telemundo soap operas, "Flor Salvaje" and "Pasion Prohibida."
