A giant corpse of an unidentified creature is giving headache to the experts in Spain. Could it be a giant shark, the corpse of a sea monster, a giant oarfish, or maybe a dead dragon?

This is the most recent among the sea serpent stories that went viral online in the last several days. The corpse was reportedly washed up on the coast of Luis Siret Beach located in Villaricos. When the pictures were released, it instantly triggered jokes about the presence of a Loch Ness monster or maybe some kind of a mutant fish species.

Civil Protection representative Maria Sanchez shared that they only helped a lady who first found a part of the carcass. She added that the conservationists working with the Program in Defense of Marine Animals are still in the process of identifying the remains.

The first set of analysis led to the suggestions that it could come from a particular fish species. The carcass measured 13 feet long. Its distinct caudal fin reminds the experts of a fox shark. On the other hand, a researcher from the University of Miami David Shiffman guesses that it could also be a giant oarfish. It can grow up to as long as 33 feet.

After having snapped several photos of the unidentified corpse, the Civil Defense decided to bury it so as to avoid any health troubles it may caused as it has been reported to have an odd smell. The official photos were taken from a story at ideal.es and which was featured in Boingboing.net too.
