'Mordhau': Why the game has been successfully crowdfunded in less than a day
Small indie game developers like Triternion have always been hopeful that the projects they pitch would be an instant hit for gaming critiques and would-be petitioners for their projects. “Mordhau” has now become one of the games that have already met their estimated financial quota in just 24 hours upon pitch.
Gameplay information
The indie game prides itself as a multiplayer medieval melee game featuring large open battles, siege engines and mounted combat. The game offers a wide array of fighting styles that covers everything from one-on-one duels to massive 64-player castle sieges.
Players can also choose from the wide expansion of weaponry of the game. These include swords, shields, spears, gardening tools, catapults, bow and arrows and jousting weapons.
The developing team
“Mordhau” is being developed by Triternion. Triternion is manned by a 10-person international team driven by their passion for melee games and the medieval era. They accumulated thousands of hours of playtime in titles such as “Chivalry,” “Mount & Blade,” and the “Jedi Knight series” which fueled their passion in making “Mordhau.”
Prior to the development of the project, the developer team has spent a year prototyping it. Project leader Marko Grgurovič, explained in the PC Gamer that the long prototyping period has allowed them to define the mechanics and get rid of absurd and undesirable cases common for games like theirs.
The game focuses on collisions that are calculated in real time. Furthermore, Marko’s team wants the game’s battles to look like fights without the endless spinning and back twisting that are common in some games of this genre.
Kickstarter details of the game
