More Than 160 Dead & Thousands Wounded in Palestine, Canada Asks World Leaders to Support Israel

Canada Prime Minister Stephen Harper asked world leaders to support Israel. He said on Sunday, July 13 that terrorists in Palestine intentionally used civilians as human shields against Israeli attack.

Canada recognised Hamas as a terrorist establishment. According to Harper, there is proof that they are using the people of their country against Israeli strike. He said that there was no justification for "the indiscriminate rocket attacks from Gaza on Israel." He called it a terrorist act. "It is evident that Hamas is deliberately using human shields to further terror in the region," he said.

The Canadian prime minister asked other national leaders to stand by Israel as well. Their silence can only strengthen Palestinian terrorists, according to Harper. "Failure by the international community to condemn these reprehensible actions would encourage these terrorists to continue their appalling actions," He said. He asked his allies to back Israel and follow Canada's footsteps to recognise terrorist acts from Palestine.

Israeli attacks have killed more than 160 Palestinians so far. Most of the casualties are women and children. Israel has always maintained its stance to claim that Palestinian terrorists "use" the civilians of their country to protect the terrorist bases in the country. Appeals of cease-fire from the United Nations Security Council went in vain so far.

Pope Francis asked for a cease-fire during the Sunday prayer. Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas promised to the Pope in June to initiate peace. The pontiff refused to accept that the meeting which took place in the Vatican was in vain. "Prayer helps us in disallowing evil to win," he said. Abbas earlier asked the United Nations to give "international protection" for Palestine.

Thousands of people from Palestine reportedly started running away from northern Gaza after Israel had declared that it would target the area to prevent Hamas' rocket attacks. In the meantime, Israeli airstrikes have reportedly killed 17 members of the same family in Gaza.
