The More You Sleep, The Better The Sex Life With Increased Libido For Women
According to the researchers, if is good for the sex life of a woman to get an extra hour of sleep. The study results revealed that women tend to do other things in bed if they sleep a little longer.
The researchers at the University of Michigan's Sleep and Circadian Research Laboratory have revealed that an hour of extra sleep increases the chances of the woman getting engaged in a sexual activity with her partner the next day by 14 percent.
"Our study showed that good sleep is important for healthy sexual desire and arousal in women, even when women are psychiatrically and medically healthy," said the lead researcher David Kalmbach, reported CBS News.
The researchers evaluated a sample population of 171 college-going women with no history of using anti-depressants. The selected candidates were first scrutinised for baseline measures in the laboratory and then asked to keep a record of their sleeping patterns for 14 consecutive days and see if they get into any sexual act the next day.
The research results revealed that the women who had longer sleep time had better sexual arousal the next day than the women who slept less. The impact of sleep on sexual desire was found to be independent of the factors, including age, distress, tiredness and daytime feelings. Thus, the link between sleep and increased sexual desire was established by the research team.
"I think these findings suggest that taking a closer look at sleep health in women with sexual complaints is a worthwhile endeavour, as poor sleep may lead to sexual problems," revealed Kalmbach.
The research concluded that sleep is an important aspect of healthy sexual life and promotes genital arousal and response in women.
The study has been published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
