In September Morgan Freeman's fake death stirred social media. There were also rumours that he would narrate the film adaptation of the erotic film "Fifty Shades of Grey." Now Freeman purportedly issued a statement on a huge U.S. tragedy involving gun abuse and violence. Why is it always Freeman?

Morgan Freeman is determined to find out who associated his name to a scathing anti-media statement regarding the tragic Connecticut shooting, according to his rep.

The fake statement has quickly gone viral after surfacing on Hollywood Gossip, Reddit, Facebook and Twitter.

Here is a snippet from Freeman's supposed statement:

"Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next."

"You can help by forgetting you ever read (shooter Adam Lanza's) name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

Freeman's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, has confirmed to media that the viral statement did not come from the actor. It would be recalled that Freeman became a victim of a death hoax in September. His reps then told the public:

"Morgan is alive and well, and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."

What is it about Freeman that gets him linked to fake news online?

Connecticut Shooting: 'The only appropriate news conversation'

In connection to the Connecticut shooting, an actress contributed to Twitterverse using her verified Twitter account. Olivia Wilde has this to say about the senseless mass killing:

"The only appropriate news conversation now is about gun control and mental health. Obsessing over the killer's profile is sick & wasteful."
