'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' Movie Cast Headed to San Diego Comic Con [PHOTOS & VIDEO]
Shadowhunters better mark those calendars because the cast of "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" have something planned under their sleeves. Lily Collins, who plays the female lead protagonist Clary Fray, announces good news for the upcoming San Diego Comic Con. Here's all there is to know.
Cassandra Clare's best-selling novels, "The Mortal Instruments" is the next most hyped about all thanks to the film adaptation of its first novel set for release on August 21, 2013. "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" joins a few other highly-anticipated book-to-film adaptations namely "Hunger Games: Catching Fire", "Divergent", "Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters" and "Vampire Academy."
In anticipation for the upcoming flick, the cast of Cassie Clare's "TMI: City of Bones" is set to head to this year's Comic Convention at San Diego. Lily Collins had announced the line-up for the film just yesterday with a video message which may be viewed below.
Joining Clary Fray played by Lily Collins at the Comic Con are Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace Wayland), Kevin Zeggers (Alec Lightwood) and Robert Sheehan (Simon Lewis). Author Cassandra Clare and Director Harald Zwart will be joining "The Mortal Instruments" panel as well.
Notably missing from the panel list are Jemima West who plays Kevin Zegers sister onscreen, Isabelle Lightwood, and Godfrey Gao, Zeger's love interest Magnus Bane. Fans had already petitioned that Gao make it to the Comic Con but no word if he'd make it in time or not.
For those who have only heard of "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" only now, here is a synopsis of the book.
"When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?"
"This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . ."
"Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end."
