The movie adaptation of Cassandra Clare's bestselling novel will finally hit theaters on 2013. The trailer for "Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" was released just days ago.

The supernatural romance novel by Cassandra Clare, "Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" is here. It follows the story of an average teen Clary Fray which is portrayed by Lily Collins, who after her mother's disappearance is taken into a world of a secret universe of "Shadowhunters." According to the novel, they are half angel and half human who are tasked to protect the world from dangerous demons.

Now that the "Twilight Saga" has retired, could "Mortal Instruments" potentially be the next best thing for the young adults of this generation? Since many Twilight fans would probably looking for something to cling on to after the famous vampire novel franchise has come to its end.

According to the director of the movie, Harald Zwart, everything they wanted to show about the film are carefully sequenced in the trailer.

"I think it's good to keep some mystery and keep spreading it out a little bit. I think the trailer as it is now is a good representation of a - I think you'd call it a teaser - I feel good about that," he said. "We try to stick as close to the book as we can. It's always hard with adaptations, especially with a big book like this one."

Other casts include Jamie Campbell Bower, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jared Harris and Lena Heady. The movie is directed by Harald Zwart under Screen Gems production. "Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" will hit theaters on August 2013.
