The Most Bizarre Celebrity Diets That You Must Never Follow
These Diets May Give You a Slim Figure But at The Cost of Your Health
There are several diets available in the market and people try following them to get a beautiful body, similar to celebrities. But little do they know that it takes more than just the normal diets to get that stunning figure. While a few celebrities take to diets that become an instant fad and do good to a lot of their fans, there are also those celebrities who take to the most difficult and rather bizarre diets to lose weight. These diets can also cause more harm to the body than good.
Breatharian or Air diet
As the name suggests this is not really a diet at all, the practitioner omits food and liquids completely, and lives practically on air and light alone. He pretends he is eating but fills his stomach with air. Actress Michelle Pfeiffer and Madonna allegedly practiced this diet. The British Dietetic Association cautioned that though one may seem to be losing weight by attempting this diet, the consequences are never good. It would cause dehydration, malnutrition and there is a risk of death.
Alcorexia or Drunkorexia diet
This risky diet not only cuts your nutrition but also causes alcohol addiction. The diet involves cutting down calories in the food and substituting it with alcohol. The calories are saved so that they could drink on the weekend. Most models are said to follow this. The British Dietetic Association states that this diet is extremely dangerous. The essential nutrients, vitamins and calories required for a proper functioning of the body is not given and hence it makes the person weak. The BDA further that the additional alcohol intake towards the end of the week , "could end up causing immense damage to the body." It has been rumoured that Lady Gaga follows this way of living, including Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.
hCG Diet
This is an extreme diet that involves injecting the hCG hormone and consume less than 500 calories a day, this combination if followed for 45 days gives visible weight loss results. The hormone is said to suppress hunger. The Food and Drug Administration stated that this diet is harmful and could be dangerous when taken as directed. Jersey Shore stars Snooki (Nicole Polizzi), J-WOWW (Jenni Farley) and Britney Spears follow this diet. Elizabeth Miller, of FDA's division for non-prescription drugs and health fraud, said in a statement, as reported by the Associated Press said, "These products are marketed with incredible claims and people think that if they're losing weight, HCG must be working." The data she says does not support this, and the weight loss that people experience is due to a restriction in calories and not due to the hCG.
Blood type diet
Miranda Kerr used to follow this diet and so did celebrities like Demi Moore and Elizabeth Hurley. The diet required the person to eat foods as per their blood group. It does not take into account factors such as medical conditions, deficiencies, allergies, your body type, and weight loss goal. Ignoring these essential factors could be dangerous for the body.
