The Bible is not just filled with nuggets of wisdom through its amazing verses. But it also has surprising foods that we still eat today.

According to Shine Yahoo, food was first mentioned in the Bible in the first book of Genesis. It was created to provide strength to the first man and woman known as Adam and Eve. Others said food was introduced symbolically in the Holy Book but in other aspects, it was also discussed in the most literal sense.

Olive oil, for one, may be used now as a healthier cooking oil option. In the Bible, it was cited as something to burn lamps and make bread.

There was also the walnut which was mentioned in the Bible as the Persian trees. These are nut trees whose fruits are called as walnuts during these modern days. It is grown vastly in the Middle Eastern countries where its nuts are also commonly eaten.

Who would not know wine? It has always been discussed in the Holy Book as a sacred drink usually related to celebrations. It became more popular when it was used in the popular Bible story when Jesus turned all water into wine.

Another basic Bible food that is a main ingredient of most modern food products. These days there is the wheat. Up to this very day, diet plans rich in whole wheat or grains are known to lower diabetes and the presence of gallstones.

There's also the figs which have been mentioned a lot of times in the Holy Book. It is considered a very sweet fruit and can help maintain a normal level of your blood pressure. It is also helpful in weight loss programs and can strengthen the bone density.

Other common foods mentioned in the Bible that were noted by the Examiner include pomegranates, beans, cucumbers, corn, fish, fowl, goat, lamb, curds, and vinegar among many others.
