Boston guy Glen James may be homeless, but he is the most honest man you will ever get to meet. After having returned a backpack filled with $42,000 last week, Mr James was given his much deserved honour from the police.

The backpack he found on a Saturday had about $40,000 worth of checks along with cash amounting to $2,400. The black bag was discovered by the old man right outside TJ Maxx shop within the Dorchester neighborhood, ABC News reports.

According to the police, the backpack is owned by a Chinese student who was just visiting the country and left his bag by accident. Good thing that inside the bag, the student's passport was found too.

Boston's Most Honest Man

When Mr James was honored by the Boston Police led by Commissioner Edward Davis, the homeless guy insisted to write his statement instead of delivering a speech. He mentioned that he has been in a homeless state way back in 2005 after he has lost his job. According to AP, he used to work for the Boston municipal court system as a file clerk.

To handle his everyday needs, he shared that he depends on his food stamps along with panhandling. Despite his situation in life, he said that he is grateful for others being generous to people like him that even without a home, he does not feel broke.

Rewards of Honesty

Even if he returned all that big amount of money that most will say could have helped his own finances, Mr James is still set to receive good karma out of his most honest deed. After his story was made public, a stranger by the name of Ethan Whittington started an online fundraising project for the kind man.

The campaign was set in GoFundMe.com and has reached about $17,000 in just about a day while the page is still up until it reaches its goal of $50,000 for the benefit of Mr James.
