Mother of Former Glee Star Gives Up on Charice Pempengco (VIDEOS)

Raquel Pempengco, the equally controversial mother of former Glee star Charice Pempengco, has given up on her daughter following the 21-year-old singer's admission that she is lesbian.

The mother-and-daughter team used to be very close, as seen in this old video, until Charice came out to her mother when she turned 18.

Pep.ph reports that the mother gave her reaction to Charice's disclosure through postings on her Facebook account. Although the account is private, one of the friends of Raquel - Robert Ybera, who is also the baptismal godfather of Charice - shared Raquel's post.

"So many things had happened between us two ... At this point, I will let you go because you have turned your back on your family so many times for the sake of pursuing that happiness you have long been searching for," she wrote in Filipino.

Raquel pointed out that Charice has been free to do whatever she wanted since her daughter turned 18.

"Now, whatever are your plans for your life and decision you want to make, I leave it all up to you," she added.

Also posting his reaction to Charice's coming out is Ybera, who warned in his Facebook status of the possibility that the YouTube sensation could lose $100 million in future earnings because of her gender preference admission.

However, he did not explain how he came up with that amount.

Meanwhile, Kuh Ledesma, a Filipina singer also of international stature, gave unsolicited advice to Charice. She believes the Pyramid singer should have not made public her sexual orientation outing because of the potential damage to Charice's career. She echoes the advice of Yberra.

Ledesma recalls being in a similar situation when she wanted to make public her separation from her husband, but decided not to because of the hurt such a public disclosure would cause people involved. She urged Charice to follow her mother's advice.

Ledesma herself was subject to lesbian rumours, having been linked in the past to stage actress Monique Wilson, who played Kim alternately with Lea Salonga in the original stage production of Ms Saigon, and to Regina Velasquez, another top Filipina singer. She attributes the rumour to being close to both singers, but denied she is lesbian.
