Mother’s Day 2013: Revisiting Mamma Mia and the Top 10 Mother Songs
Since everyone has a mother, mum songs have been sung over the years by different singers from various music genres. Mother-themed movies are also favourite themes in Hollywood.
One successful collaboration between music and theatre, which eventually spilled to the movies is the ABBA song Mamma Mia, which was spun off initially as a play, incorporating all the top ABBA hits and then made into a movie in 2008.
The movie version, which starred Oscar Best Actress Meryl Streep, was a monster hit and got several nominations from Golden Globe and BAFTA for its performers and creators. It has grossed more than $600 million a year after its global release.
