Three days before Mary Ann Manning died of cancer, she realized her dying wish. To dance with her son, Ryan, for the traditional mother-of-the-groom and groom number, at the reception of his wedding at Dana Point last September 5.

She got her wish. The video of that dance number with her son, in which she was dressed in a beautiful sequined gown, was put up on Facebook and went viral. Ryan and his sisters, Kristie Manning and Karie Chamberlain, told TODAY.com that they are "moved by the public response."

You can watch the video here.

Ryan expressed his amazement at the "incredible" reaction. Till the dance, she had to be helped even to walk. But for the dance, she just jumped up, placed her hands on Ryan's shoulders and delicately swayed with him for the song, 'Somewhere over the Rainbow." There were hundreds of Facebook messages from people who had many stories to share. They could all relate to his and thanked him for sharing his beautiful moments.

The 61-year-old Mary was a homemaker and had a good circle of friends. But her family was always important to her. "She was a very dedicated mother," said Ryan. However, due to Mary Ann's health failing in the weeks leading up to the Sept. 5 wedding, her family wondered if she'd even make it to the ceremony, let alone dance with her son.

Just one day before the wedding, she suffered another stroke, so there was no option of flying due to her health. Yet, she would not agree to staying back, so the family members cancelled their flight. They all drove with her for six hours. She would not listen to anyone forbidding her from dancing, so she danced with her son to the music of Israel Ka'ano'i Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow," which had also been played at his brother's wake.

She was wheeled to the dance floor, somehow pushed herself to come out of her wheelchair and made it."The rest is just nothing short of a miracle," Ryan said. She was either a remarkably strong person or it was God's doing or maybe both.

Kristie Manning said that she "sobbed uncontrollably" during the whole dance, according to TODAY.com. She had given the phone to a friend because her shaking hands couldn't hold it, but she did join the family hug with her father and sister and watched it together. Her sister, Karie Chamberlain, said that it was the "most beautiful thing."

"I have always known my mom was beyond human, as most kids see their parents, but that moment it was true," she added. Those three minutes, her mother was beating cancer. After that, Mary Ann could only collapse into her wheelchair. The dance had really taken the stuffing out of her body, which was shaking uncontrollably. The family rushed her out and got her into bed.

She died on September 8, three days later. At her funeral, Ryan's former track coach came up to tell him how much the wedding dance had touched the viewers. "He was very emotional," Ryan said. He said that his son had lost his own mother too and never got to share such a beautiful moment. But he found happiness in Ryan's moment. Despite plunging into sorrow, the family was comforted by the happiness it gave to others who too have had to deal with cancer.

Kristie said that it was a magic moment. Her mother was amazing and nothing could do as much justice to her mother as that moment. Her sister agreed that though they had gone through a lot of suffering in all the days leading up to that day, "every moment of support, love and passion were displayed on the dance floor." She said she knew that she would liver her life "trying to be even half the mother she was."

In the last four years, the whole family has faced a lot of loss. The younger brother, Kyle, died in 2010 when he was just 23. Their grandmother, Margaret Lesin, died in 2012 and then their mother, Mary was discovered to be suffering from breast cancer in her fourth stage.

Ryan had met his old San Diego State University grad classmate, Katelyn Schlick and proposed to her in 2013 at Eiffel Tower. They married in Orange County, California, a year later, in September 5, where his mother had her last dance.
