Motorola recently announced the official roll-out of Moto X, and soon, it will hit major network carriers in the United States. Although the device represents a comeback of Motorola to the smartphone scene, the device was not super-outstanding compared with other Android flagship phones. Here are the top eight things you should know about Motorola X Phone.

Zero Gap "Magic Glass" Technology Construction

Taylor Wimberly leaked that Moto X will feature a "Magic Glass" technology as part of the device's glass construction. Magic Glass apparently strengthens the sheet of moulded glass to cover the front and sides of the phone. In addition, it was coated with polymer material which can withstand bumps. The design entailed for zero-gap consistency throughout the device's chassis.

Better, Strong Build Quality with Lightweight Feel

Aside from the "Magic Glass," Wimberly also leaked that Motorola will add lamination of aluminium construction on the phone to make it stronger and sturdy while keeping the lightweight feeling.

First Smartphone Made in the United States

Motorola confirmed that Moto X will be manufactured in the United States, from engineering to assembling. Motorola's CEO Dennis Woodside said that the device will be constructed and housed near Fort Worth, Texas.

"When your manufacturing is thousands of miles away from your engineers and your designers, you actually lose the ability to innovate. You lose the ability to make fast changes to how you're manufacturing things," Woodside said, quoted by TechRepublic.

First Customisable Smartphone

Customisation is a plus for any smart device, and Moto X would be the first smartphone to accommodate personal design from its owner. According to Motorola's recent advertisement:

"The first smartphone that you can design yourself. Because today you should have the freedom to design the things in your life to be as unique as you are."

Some experts and critics thought that the internal build can be customised according to desire; however, the concept was only for cosmetic options.

Wide Range of Availability

Motorola will use all available distribution methods for Moto X through many different network carriers in the United States and through all international wireless carriers as well. Moto X phone was also rumoured to become available in Google Play Store once publicly released.

"The Moto X is going to be broadly distributed, which is a first for Motorola in a number of years and the support that the carriers have provided has actually been fantastic. So, I think they're excited about where we're going as well," Dennis Woodside said.

Sensors with Low-Power Needs

Another engaging aspect of Moto X is the set of sensors which eats little amount of power. Ever since, Motorola has been good with ultra-low-powered sensors such as gyroscope and accelerometer. Motorola's CEO Dennis Woodside explains:

"It's more contextually aware of what's going on around it and allows you to interact with it in very different ways than you can today with other devices. So it knows it's in my pocket right now. It knows when I take it out of my pocket right now. It knows when I take it out of my pocket I might want to do something. I might want to take a picture, so it knows to fire up the camera. So it anticipates my needs in a much more powerful way, but, more important, imagine you're in the car. The device will know - whether it's on or off - that it's travelling at 60 miles per hour. It's going to act differently so you can interact with it safely."
