Movies heading to Australia in 2017
Australian Government has announced that there are movies that are waiting to be shot in Australia. The said movies will start to descend in 2017.
First on the list are films starring Helen Mirren, Rose Byrne, Amber Heard, James Corden, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, who will arrive early next year. They will be working on a certain project in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast. Australian directors James Wan and Leigh Whannell will also be directing and producing films in one of the studios there.
It has been confirmed that Wan will shoot the Warner Bros-DC Comics superhero movie “Aquaman.” The location will be in the Gold Coast with a funding amounting to $22 million. The upcoming movie will star Jason Momoa and Amber Heard.
In the past week, it was also announced that Whannell will shoot the sci-fi thriller “Stem” in Melbourne. One of the stars of the film is Logan Marshall-Green.
There will also be four big budget action fantasy movies that will be filmed in Australia. First off is “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom,” which will be filmed in Sydney's Fox Studios. After the New Year, Will Gluck's “Peter Rabbit” will also start their productions. Ridley Scott's “Alien: Covenant” will also take place in the said country. Lastly, “Hacksaw Ridge” will take on one of the big studios in Australia.
This year, the latest Marvel film series “Thor: Ragnarok” was also filmed in Australia, starred by Hollywood Aussie hunk Chris Hemsworth. “Alien” was also filmed on the shores of Australia.
JMC Academy said that some of the reasons why Hollywood filmmakers choose Australia are because of its highly qualified workforce, innovative technology, stable economy and low exchange rate. The academy also added that because of these expected films to be done in Australia, it will create a lot of jobs that will be available to many. "For every job created in the film and television industry supports 3.57 jobs in other industries," says Arts Minister Mitch Field.
JMC Academy is a school catering to those who are interested to be part of the entertainment and technology industry.
The number of celebrities making their way to the shores of Australia means that it is going to be a big year for Australia.
