‘Mr Robot’ creator assures Angela’s solid love for Elliot
“Mr Robot” will be back in the small screens for the third run of the show. While there is no official release date for the series yet, creator Sam Esmail has previously dropped some hints about how season 3 would look.
It is likely that the upcoming season will focus on the love story of Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) and Angela (Portia Doubleday). Last season, it was made to appear that the latter had a change of heart. He left Elliot’s team to side with Whiterose (BD Wong) after talking for a few minutes. Nobody knows the exact details of their conversation, but it seemed that Whiterose told her enough for her to change alliance.
While it may not be a happy event for viewers, fans can keep their peace in knowing that they can hold on to Angela’s love for the series’ main protagonist. “I don’t think that will ever change,” Esmail said as he refers to the love of Angela for Elliot.
“That’s one thing, as much as the plot machinations can always be a little overwhelming, we always try to ground everything in real human emotions and relationships and connections,” the show creator has added. He explained that “Mr Robot” is a reflection of stories of people who are struggling to connect. Elliot and Angela have been friends since their childhood. They have been by each other's side through tough times, especially when Angela dealt with her cheating boyfriend, Ollie (Ben Rappaport).
Elliot’s relationship with Angela is not the only thing that season 3 might be focused on. Before the show’s sophomore season came to an end, fans have learned that Tyrell Wellick (Martin Wallström) was alive. The next season might see whether or not Elliot will forgive him for shooting him in the chest.
Avid viewers of the show know that the two characters somehow share a friendship. The showrunner said their connection has been set up during the very first episode of the show. “The interesting thing about Tyrell and Elliot is that they have this bond, this connection,” Esmail told Variety.
Malek’s portrayal of his character in the show has made him won his first Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series. “I want to honour the Elliots. Because there’s a little bit of Elliot in all of us,” he said during his acceptance speech. In the show, Elliot is a mentally challenged character.
“Mr Robot” season 2 aired on Showcase in Australia. Official air date for the show’s third instalment is expected to be announced in the near future.
