MTV Music Video Awards watched by 11.4 million!
Sunday's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards was viewed by 11.4 million people, but it fell short of beating 2002 MTV Telecast viewed by 11.9 million.
Still, it is definitely good news to the folks at the MTV Award show.
Afterall, the 2010 VMA is the third most watched telecast in the history of MTV, up by 27% compared to 2009's telecast. A self-congratulation is in order, and no less than the 2010 Awards show host herself is at the fore.
"Just got word...Highest rated VMA's since 2002," Chelsea said , in reaction to the good news. "Good job, MTV! Good job, kiddo."
The 2010 MTV Awards show host thanked all of her followers for tuning in, saying that she had a good night hosting the show.
"Thanks for watching everyone," she said. "I know I had a good night when I wake up with tape on my back & glitter on my face. Now, I have to go do my show [Chelsea Lately]."
But then again, almost everyone will definitely be glued to the television as the MTV as it opens with the duo of Eminem and Rihanna performing a rendition of "Love The Way You Lie" which ruled the airwaves not only in the US but also around the world. And it does help that that people anticipated a Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift showdown in this years award, which, they did in separate acts with each artist singing his own musical take on the 2009 incident. Lady Gaga's outrageous dresses and Chelsea Handler's skits and parody did much to boost the show's ratings.
