As the 62nd edition of Miss Universe 2013 is nearing to an end, with the coronation night 2 days away, many VIP guests are now in Russia's capital to grace the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world and celebrate the crowning of the new Miss Universe.

Donald Trump, the man behind Miss Universe, is now in Moscow to oversee the whole pageant.

Trump is a significant personality in the pageant. He is set to do a face-to-face encounter with all the 86 lovely candidates and this will be very crucial to every delegate. The meeting is only a brief encounter that could mean so much and has potential to make a huge difference for he has the power to pick his personal favorite, Trump Picks.

The American businessman will choose the six lucky ones that will be automatically seeded to the semifinals. This may not be an official thing but he is the owner of the pageant and he can choose whoever he wants. The 16 delegates who will be included in the semi-finals are the 9 highest-scoring performances, 1 fan vote winner and the 6 Donald Trump picks.

The 67-year-old American business magnate is the owner of Miss Universe Organization since 1996. In 2003, National Broadcasting Company (NBC) became the pageant's official partner. His organization produces the annual Miss USA and Miss Teen USA beauty pageants under the supervision of Paula Shugart, the organization's current president.

Trump And Russia's Anti-Gay Law

Even with Russia's anti-gay law, Trump hired MSNBC Anchor Thomas Roberts, who is openly gay, to co-host this year's Miss Universe pageant in Moscow, Russia. He has been outspoken about his opposition to marriage equality but despite his views about it, he chose to invite Roberts and thinks that he can do something to address the issue, and the Russian's gay community is loving that this year's Miss Universe will be held in Moscow.

In an interview with Trump, Roberts asked the business mogul why he chose to invite a gay host in Russia inspite the growing issues about LGBT.

"The gay groups in Moscow are loving the fact that we are going over there," Trump said. "So we can hide, or we can do something about it. So I think that you're going to do something about it, and I think that I'm going to do something about it."

"We have many people in the pageant system who happen to be gay... and they actually feel very enthused about this because they feel we can make a difference as a group, and individually," he added.
