Mumford & Sons’ Ted Dwane Recovering After Brain Surgery
The band is expected to play at Splendour in the Grass in July
Mumford & Sons' bassist Ted Dwane posted a recent photo of himself with a shaved head on the band's official website. "Bear with a sore head! Thanks so much for all the well wishing, it seems to be working! I'm home," he said.
The British folk band cancelled a series of US Tours after Dwane was rushed to the hospital on June 11. He was diagnosed with a blood clot on his brain, which required surgery. The band was also set to perform at the annual Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tenessee but had to back-out because of the bassist's condition.
Dwane was discharged from the hospital in UK last Thursday night. "It is with great joy that we can announce that Ted has been discharged from hospital and is on the road to a full recovery. The surgery went well, and the excellent medical team helping him are very pleased with his progress," the band posted on their official Facebook page.
Mumford & Sons won Album of the Year for their album "Babel" at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Their single "I Will Wait" off the same record garnered favourable reviews from major music critics and has sold over 153,000 copies in its first week of release in the US.
Their tour continues until mid-September but do not have plans to cancel any further shows once Dwane recuperates. They are still headlining Glastonbury at the end of the month and at London's Olympic Park on July 6 along with Vampire Weekend, Ben Howard, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Haim.
Furthermore, the Grammy-award winning band is again expected to perform at the annual Splendour in the Grass 2013. The band headlined the festival back in 2010. This will be their only show in Australia for 2013.
Splendour in the Grass 2013 will be held at North Byron Parklands, NSW from July 26-28. Apart from Mumford & Sons, some of the bands who will be performing at the music festival include The National, TV on the Radio and the Australian electronic music duo, Empire of the Sun.
