North Coast musician Brian "Birdy" Burdett, 52, and his daughters Sky, 10, and Kayla, 8, were among the five people who died in tragic road accidents in southwest NSW over what seemed to be a long weekend of tragedies.

The accident happened on the Kings Highway near Braidwood about 4:30pm when Burdett's westbound Ford Falcon wagon crossed onto the wrong side of the road and crashed head on with a Mitsubishi Outlander travelling in the opposite direction.

The four passengers of the Outlander, including young girls aged 11 and 13, were taken to Canberra Hospital. They reportedly did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

A tribute video has been uploaded to YouTube for Burdett, who is also well-known among North Coast surfers.

Burdett grew up on the Gold Coast and was living at Lennox Head, before moving to Jindabyne about three years ago, according to NorthernStar.com.au.

Two other people were killed on Sunday morning when a car crashed into a tree about 20km east of Braidwood on the Kings Highway, which links Canberra with the NSW south coast town of Batemans Bay.

NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell told CanberraTimes.com.au he would seek advice on whether to pledge budget for the killer highway.

''Any death on our roads, particularly in this case where it involved a father and two young daughters, is to be regretted,'' Mr. O'Farrell said.

Meanwhile, a sixth tragic death occurred on Monday morning, when a woman passenger died on the spot in a single vehicle accident at Jindabyne.

Police and emergency services were called to the Alpine Way, about 10km west of Jindabyne, where a ute had crashed into an embankment shortly before 11 o'clock in the morning. The male driver of the ute was airlifted to The Canberra Hospital for medical attention.
