Twerking, reunions, and surprise collaborations happened at the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night in Brooklyn, N.Y.
MTV rounded up the troops to host an awards show to pay homage to something called a "music video" a sort of event that hasn't been seen on MTV in a long period. The biggest moment of the event certainly was the 'N Sync's reunion during Justin Timberlake's performance.

Lady Gaga kicked things off with her first live performance on "Applause" from her upcoming album, "ARTPOP." who performed on TV for the first time post-hip surgery, swapped costumes four times, ending the performance in bikini and a long blonde wig.

Miley Cyrus showed off both her sexy and quirky during her provoking twerk-tastic performance of "We Can't Stop." Miley Cyrus tried to wear best twerking outfit for her eye popping performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. With a giant teddy bear Miley donned nude PVC hot pants and boob tube which absolutely revealing. Miley Cyrus performed her hit We Can't Stop and duetted with Robin Thicke for summer tune Blurred Lines.

Wearing a bodysuit featuring a cartooned character, she was joined by a host of dancing Boo teddy bears and a few booty dancers for a VMA-rendition of her summer hit "We Can't Stop." The ultimate surprise came when Robin Thicke appeared onstage to perform "Blurred Lines"; Cyrus joined him for the song and, at one point, gave the singer a lap dance.

"Miley better go get a pregnancy test after all that grinding," comedian Kevin Hart joked afterward. Then, Thicke, along with rappers 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar, came up for the remixed version of his new single "Give It 2 U
Kanye West gave a drop-dead dark performance of "Blood on the Leaves" from his "Yeezus" album. The performance began and closed with West singing into the microphone. Rapping onstage a silhouette of West was projected against of a black and white picture of the forest.

Justin Timberlake -- the evening's forerunner Award recipient -- received the most screen-time on Sunday as he performed through many of his solo hits, including "SexyBack," "My Love," "Cry Me a River," "Senorita" and "Rock Your Body." The audience freaked out was when all the members of 'N Sync interrupted to perform a medley of their own hits on stage.

Drake's VMAs performance saw the rapper bringing "Started From the Bottom" and "Hold On, We're Going Home" all the way up to Brooklyn's Barclays Center, a far cry from the grocery store gig he pretends he has in the former song's music video.

Drake announced he was pushing "Nothing Was the Same," his upcoming and long-awaited album, to Sept. 24. As his fans were disappointed in his defense, he performed many numbers including the defining club hit of the summer, a remix to Migos' "Versace," "The Motion," "5AM in Toronto" and "Girls Love Beyonce."
Bruno Mars took the stage to perform his new single "Gorilla" on Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. The singer rolled through the track while wearing a leopard-print button-down as beams of neon-green lights filled the Barclays Center.

Mars was accompanied by a horn section, and the jazzy new song marked one of the night's tamer moments, even as blasts of fire erupted during the chorus. Amid an evening filled with sensual performances, Mars offered a brand of artistry unmatched by the bulk of the telecast.The singer performed immediately following his win for Best Male Video.
